Reforming Our Treasure (2 Corinthians 8-9)

Group Guides | Sharing the gospel, sharing our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

By way of introduction: What do you think of the statement “God wants us to be rich!”? Do you agree or disagree?

Read 2 Corinthians 8-9

  1. What do we learn about the material situation of the believers in Macedonia? And in Corinth?

  2. What do these chapters say/teach about the Corinthians (& the Macedonians)…

    -        Ability for generosity?

    -        Reason for generosity?

    -        Attitude towards generosity?

    -        Motivation for generosity?

  3. Why doesn’t Paul command the Corinthians to be generous?

  4. Why doesn’t Paul give them/us a figure or percentage to give?

  5. What do we learn here about God’s giving and generosity?

  6. How does the gospel reform what we do with the treasure God has gifted to us?

  7. What steps are you now going to make to, according to what you have, overflow with generosity in response to God’s generosity?

Let’s pray in response to God’s word to us about our treasure!
