Keep Going, by Grace (Philippians 3:12-16)

(1 Thessalonians 2:8)

By way of introduction… what motivates people in life, what motivates you?

Read Philippians 3:12-16

  1. In this passage, what is the thing that Paul is pressing on to make his own? (context will help us heaps here)

  2. From what we know through our Bible reading, are we ourselves able to make it our own? What light does this passage shed on this key theological concept?

  3. How does knowing what Christ has done for us motivate us to be able to press on, without this being disheartening?

  4. Our creaturely minds can find it hard to comprehend God’s grace to us, and how that shapes our salvation and Christian life. What does Paul say is our help in this from this passage?

  5. How does God reveal his grace and truth to us for our maturity?

  6. Notice how there is a change from the way Paul writes in a singular way from verses 12-14 and then in a plural way from verses 15-16. What other helps do we have to keep going, by grace?

Pray that we as a church would hold true to what we have attained (verse 16)
